The Mirror Soul Project:
My Background Connects The Reason For This Calling.
A divinely gifted creation that has been created by myself with spiritual guidance. I know it sounds a lot and trust me it was an experience for me too!
I have a story behind it and it all makes sense now even though it was the most strangest, but also the most knowing experience , just like my life's journey has been a lot to say the least, I was in training for this and I did not know it. My life was a journey of unfortunate events that shaped me instead of breaking me. It was preparing me for this all along and fulfilling my need for making a difference changing life into lessons and empathic skills of seeing life and people for my highest good and ability to see beyond just what you think you see!.
The creation has the ability to help people open up freely in therapy without "The Guard Dog" the defensive protection our mind creates when we are feeling vulnerable. In Therapy this is often the case. My experience was not a great one, so I know the feeling of sitting with a stranger looking at you in a chair opposite and throwing questions at you. My response was picking up my phone, calling a cab and leaving. Not the right response, but the overwhelming pressure was too much and can sometimes hit deeply.
I remember that question "So tell me about your childhood?"
That was the moment.. I just got up and left!. The session felt scripted and cold to say the least. It was like they didn't know me but wanted me to tell them things I don't tell anyone, even the closest people! It just made me think "why would they think I would just freely give them answers? It actually seemed quite thoughtless and intrusive. "I felt there was no understanding and or actual care for making me feel vulnerable"
I know it's not all therapists style and some would be real enough to realise, "How can I ask these questions to a person that has been wearing a mask for years".
The tool I was spiritually guided too, creates a flow that eliminates those uncomfortable feelings of taking off the mask. It allows natural expressive emotional responses that can lead to a conversation that feels easy and engaging to reflect back to their own life experiences. This is where the magic starts to happen! Connecting to the artwork and freedom to identify feelings that do not feel like theirs. The image helps them to disassociate from their experiences, projecting their story into their narrative of the image .
Their need for the guard dog has gone letting the inside out freely without the need to hide.
Then comes the acceptance of the emotion they described and the empowerment of controlling the narrative and reflecting on it without any questions thrown at them. They are free to flow, talk and ultimately get your guidance to help them release the emotions, gaining clarity and learning how to change their perspective or navigate through it.
This project took me from a dark place to a place of understanding, why?
"Why" my life played out the way it did. "Why" I created this piece ? It all came to me slowly it was all coming to light. The past 6 years experiencing and interacting with my work made me realise that it was a tool for healing.
Since I created this work the continuous experiences I encountered using it was preparing me to fully understand all aspects of it. It wasn't just a tool, but a spiritually led mission to heal people, reaching as many people as possible. By guiding its potential to trained gifted practitioners. My integrity is the reason I believe I was chosen. I believe creating it was a blessing that held responsibility and humility .It was divinely gifted to me knowing that I would learn and understand it fully before allowing anyone else to use it. This has taken nearly 6 years because without me fully understanding the process and acknowledging that it needed careful guidance.. It wasn't leaving my presence or thoughts.
I can now say that it is ready, Now I am confident knowing the exact process for the best results to occur with the kindest impact .
I know it's healing power. I know it' has the most amazing results first hand, I know it's time for the right trained therapists to see how it frees the process of therapy to a place of safety where honesty flows, ultimately ending in the best results for both parties involved.
My story may help you connect with you thinking, why does she think she was chosen?, I am a survivor who has been gifted this to remove the guard dog , allowing me to support honesty and progression during therapy. I honestly ask myself, Why Me? This all connects to my own life and all the painful but knowledgeable training through my journey. It has never been about me, but for my need of helping others build themselves up and become empowered with guidance. It is not for recognition or about money. I sincerely believe It has been channelled to me with spiritual guidance to pass on for good of mankind. All my life my souls mission has been to help. I believe with my whole heart this is a spiritually guided mission to help people open up and release with a safety net of trained professionals guidance. Please have the faith and try the process with me freely to see for yourself.
My Journey Led To My Empowerment That Made Who I am Today And Me Being Chosen To Do This. To Make Others Like Me So Strong And Know You Are Enough! Life Builds You Up So Strong You Can Become Indestructible.
My RawStory....
"I know it is a long story but I wanted you to see me... I am "No Victim" I am indestructible !
Thank you for being here and giving me the space to share who I really am. My name is Laura Harris, and The Mirror Soul Project is not just a piece of art or a service. It is my life story, my battles, my faith and my healing, all brought together so that others don’t feel as alone as I once did.
Growing up in chaos
My life did not start in safety or softness. When I was around two, my mum left my dad for his best friend. She didn’t take me and my sister with her at first – she left us with a man whose heart had just been shattered. Two little girls and a broken father. That was the emotional soup I grew up in.
I’ve learned I am an empath. Even as a toddler, I was absorbing all the pain and confusion in the house. I didn’t have any way to process it, so my little body tried to shut down instead. I ended up in hospital, my right leg dragging and turning outwards. The doctors ran test after test and found nothing physically wrong. It was my nervous system in shock. I was too young to explain anything, but my body was screaming for help.
In the middle of all of this, there was one steady, pure love: my Nan. She was my mum’s mum, and she became my safe person. She adored me, and I adored her. She loved my dad too and could see how much we all needed holding. She is the one who taught me, without using many words, what real care and loyalty feel like.
My mum did come back into our lives, and as I’ve grown, I can see her humanity more clearly. She married young, felt deeply lonely, and by the time she was pregnant with me, she already felt trapped in a life she didn’t want. She wasn’t naturally warm with me, and the bond was never quite there the way I needed it to be. We were looked after materially – good clothes, nice things – but emotionally, I was raising myself.
That’s the first big truth of my life:
I had to become the person I needed, because nobody else could be that for me.
Learning to fight back
School was another battleground. I was intelligent, both academically and emotionally, but I didn’t fit the mould. I was expelled from three schools, and even from a boarding school that was meant to “sort me out”. On paper, I was trouble. Inside, I was just a girl who refused to be silenced or bullied.
I developed a reputation: I was not the one to be played with. If someone tried to “bully up the place” or throw their weight around, I would stand up to them – whether they were students, adults or anyone else. I didn’t have many protectors, so I became my own.
That pattern repeated at home too. My stepdad could be cold and bullying towards my mum. She might have seen me as “causing trouble” when I stepped in, but I could not watch her be hurt and stay quiet. I confronted him more than once. I made it clear that his behaviour was not going to continue without being challenged. And although it cost me – including being sent to my dad’s because I was “causing problems” – I would still do it again. Another truth formed in me there: Doing the right thing doesn’t always make life easier, but it keeps you whole.
Earning my stripes
Because of my past, I built myself from the ground up. I didn’t go the usual university route. I went straight into work at 16. Over time, I found my place in secondary schools as a mentor, behaviour manager and pastoral leader. The irony is not lost on me: The girl who was expelled from multiple schools became the woman trying to stop young people from being excluded.
I worked with my heart and my head. I didn’t just manage behaviour – I listened to the stories behind it. I understood what it felt like to be labelled, misunderstood and written off. I understood how anger often hides hurt. I could see when staff had already decided a child was “difficult”, and I saw how that fed the cycle.
I always said: No one pays me enough to be disrespected. And no child deserves to be treated as if they are beyond hope. I did all of this while being a single mum, on a non‑teaching wage, paying a big mortgage I somehow managed to secure. I still don’t fully know how it all came together, except that I have always felt held by something bigger than me. Strength is learned. Respect is earned. And I have earned my stripes.
From survival to purpose
It didn’t come from a neat idea or a business plan. It came from pain, faith and a deep spiritual pull. Sometimes it genuinely felt like my hands were guided. I would stand in front of the canvas, pick up paint, and throw it on with no idea why it “should” go there. I stopped trying to make sense of it and started to trust the process. Over 18 months, I built it up, layer by layer. My grief, my anger, my resilience, my love, my faith – all of it went into that work. I now know that every mark, every splash, every strange choice has meaning. It is spiritually guided. I believe it is divinely protected. And I believe it was given to me to share with others who are carrying their own unspoken stories and scars.
The mission of The Mirror Soul Project
If you’ve ever felt unseen, misjudged, labelled, or forced into a box that never fit, then you already understand why I work the way I do. I didn’t have emotional safety growing up, so now I create safe spaces for others. I was punished instead of understood, so now I look beneath behaviour to the real story. I had to be my own protector, so now I stand fiercely beside people who don’t yet know how to protect themselves.
The Mirror Soul Project is the living expression of all of this. It’s my way of saying: “You are not what they called you. You are not your worst day. You are not the labels that were stuck on you. You are a whole person, with a story, with depth, with power.” I am an empath who still believes in people, even when life has been brutal. Turning struggle into something sacred. We can turn our pain into power. We can become who we were always meant to be.
